Customers who pre-order the Samsung Galaxy S III from the Samsung Brand Store at Westfield Stratford City will be able to pick up the phone a day before the official release on 30 May.

Pre-orders must be made with the store before 6pm on 29 May and Samsung has stressed that there will be no devices to buy in-store, apart from those being picked up from pre-orders, until the following day.?

However, customers who pre-order the phone from other retailers might also be able to pick their Galaxy S III up early after Samsung stated it was giving its retail partners the option to begin fulfilling pre-orders an hour later from 7pm on 29 May.

Apple drops the 4G from UK iPads, now Wi-Fi + Cellular

Now Wi-Fi + Cellular
Apple drops the 4G from UK iPads

Apple will no longer be referring to the new iPad as a 4G version in the UK, after succumbing to pressure from customers and watchdogs.

The manufacturer’s UK website is now taking orders for “Wi-Fi” and “Wi-Fi + Cellular” enabled iPads, whereas previously customers could order a 4G variant despite the United Kingdom having no such network.?

Though O2 and Everything Everywhere are conducting LTE trials in the UK, both operators told Pocket-lint back in March that the new iPad 4G would only be able to use 3G connectivity.

When customers in Australia began to complain about being misled over the iPad’s 4G credentials, Apple started issuing refunds. Pocket-lint at the time spoke to the Advertising Standards Authority (ASA) which confirmed it had begun to receive similar complaints from UK customers.

Apple appears to have taken pre-emptive action by removing the 4G branding so as to not mislead potential customers.

White Nokia Lumia 900 available to buy from Phones 4u now

Early arrival for flagship phone
White Nokia Lumia 900 available now

The Nokia Lumia 900 in white has begun arriving at Phones 4u, a week before it officially said it would be stocking the phone.

One of Pocket-lint’s eagle-eyed readers noticed that the pre-order page on the retailers website had been removed and replaced with a banner saying the phone wouldn’t actually be available until 27 May – 13 days after the anticipated 14 May arrival.

However, when our tipster called up the Phones 4u centre he was told that some stores may in fact already have the phone in stock and after calling his local store in Chelsea they confirmed they were indeed selling the much anticipated Windows Phone.

Pocket-lint double checked with another store who told us they were selling “like hotcakes”.

So far only the white version is in store, with the black version to follow later, we presume on the 27 May.

There’s been much confusion as to when we might finally see the Nokia Lumia 900 in the UK with Phones 4u claiming the original on-sale date had previously been delayed due to a bigger than expected demand in the US.

Nokia for its part denied there was or ever has been a delay to the Nokia Lumia 900’s arrival in the UK.

Thanks to Matt for giving us the heads up on this story.

Samsung Galaxy S3: The best deals from O2, Vodafone, Three, Orange, T-Mobile, and retailers

Hot deals in the UK
Samsung Galaxy S3: The best deals from O2, Vodafone, Three, Orange, T-Mobile, and retailers. Phones, Samsung, Samsung Galaxy S III, Android, Vodafone, T-Mobile, Orange, O2, three, Phones 4u, Carphone Warehouse 0

The Samsung Galaxy S III?is due in the shops on 30 May, but where is the best place to buy it, who has the best deals, and what’s the best way to get hold of what many believe will be the Android phone to have this year?

Here is where you can get it in the UK.?

Phones 4u

Available for Pre-order right now, Phones 4u is promising that all pre-order customers will receive an exclusive “premium accessory bundle” courtesy of Phones 4u and Samsung, worth more than ?50. Phones 4u won’t currently say what that bundle consists of, but we suspect it will be cases and accessories for your shiny new phone. The phone will be available free on contract from ?36 a month on various networks.

Carphone Warehouse

As at Phones 4u, you’ll be able to buy the handset on Vodafone, Orange, O2, T-Mobile and Three from Carphone Warehouse for free on a selection of tariffs from ?36 per month.

The first 1,000 customers to place pay-monthly pre-orders online and on the phone (via the Carphone Warehouse call centre) will receive a FREE 10” Samsung Galaxy Tab (worth at least ?399), InvisibleSHIELD screen protector (RRP ?14.99) and in-car micro USB charger (RRP ?14.99) – a combined value of ?428.98.

All other customers who pre-order a device will receive a free Sandisk 32GB micro SD memory card (RRP normally ?29.99), Invisishield Screen Protector (RRP ?14.99) and in-car micro USB charger (RRP 14.99) –a combined value of ?59.97.

The addition of the Sandisk memory card will bring the combined memory capacity of the device to a massive 48GB, making it unlikely that even the most active users will be short on space to store their videos, pictures, music and favourite apps.

Sadly Carphone Warehouse pre-orders are available on new subscriptions only and not on upgrades.

Clove

If you don’t want to buy the SGS3 with a contract you can get it from Clove. It is selling the?Samsung Galaxy S3 16GB model for ?549.99 including VAT.

The first stock is due to be here on May 30th. At the moment the online retailer isn’t stocking the 32GB or 64GB models.?
