Canon has announced that two of its digital SLR cameras were used in the filming of blockbuster Avengers Assemble.
The Canon EOS 5D Mark II and 7D Digital SLR cameras were used for point-of-view shots (i.e. those shots seen from a character’s viewpoint) before being intercut with 35mm footage.?
It appears the Canon 5D Mark II and EOS 7D digital SLR cameras also proved handy when shooting the numerous fighting scenes, enabling the team to capture tighter angled shots on account of the cameras compact size.?
“The 5D Mark II and the 7D digital SLR cameras produce excellent, cinema-worthy images. They are great for shooting additional angles that give film editors more options for creating powerfully immersive and kaleidoscopic views of action scenes,” explained the film’s cinematographer, Seamus McGarvey.
The Avengers Assemble broke the US box office record for an opening weekend taking in $200.3 million, a record previously held by Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows Part II.
