The Canon PowerShot G7 is a sturdy, advanced camera for serious users, with a large 10-megapixel sensor and 6x optical zoom. The G7 replaces the Canon G6, now about two years old, and is a nice middle ground between point-and-shoot cameras and digital SLRs. The G7 features a “shift-type” form of optical image stabilization, using tiny, internal gyroscopes to compensate for hand movements and other jitters that may cause blurring. Keep in mind, the G7 does not feature the RAW file format, so if you’re looking for a real heavy-duty shooter, you’ll have to look to SLRs like the Digital Rebel XTi/400D. (continue reading…)

The Canon Powershot TX1 is the camera everyone’s been waiting for, combining a high-quality digital still camera with the large zoom and versatility of a camcorder. With the TX1, you can take large, 7-megapixel images or high definition (720p) videos, with a deep, image stabilized 10x zoom, all in a tiny, compact body that measures only 1-inch thick. It seemed a rather odd choice for Canon to exclude the RAW format from its G7 advanced camera, and the public let them know they wanted it back. Well, with the Powershot G9, Canon has obliged, and reintroduced the uncompressed format. The G9 also features a wonderful 3.0-inch screen, 6x optical zoom, and 12.1 megapixel sensor, placing it firmly in the upper echelon of today’s digital cameras. (continue reading…)

TmoNews is claiming that the TouchWiz-enabled Samsung Behold is scheduled for a November 10 launch on T-Mobile, and by golly, with the lookalike Delve now out and about, we hope they’re right. Notable (read: awesome) features on the Behold allegedly include user-adjustable touch sensitivity, a 5-megapixel cam, GPS, and — unlike that ZN5 that just launched — 3G data. That’s an especially good thing considering the full HTML browser and a disappointing dearth of WiFi, we reckon. It’s no smartphone, but for the T-Mobile types looking for just a little (okay, a lot) more style than the G1’s putting up, this might just be what the doctor ordered.
