Fuji FinePix A820

The Fuji A820 packs high-end, advanced features into a simple and affordable camera suitable for anyone from beginner to pro. Closely related to the A900, which is identical aside from an extra megapixel, the A820 features a 2.5-inch anti-glare LCD and a quality Fujinon 4x optical zoom lens. Fuji’s own Super CCD sensor technology and Picture Stabilization help create high quality photos even in less-than-ideal conditions. For those among us who hate reading instruction booklets, (continue reading…)

Canon PowerShot S3 IS

Canon’s extended zoom camera gets a bit of a makeover. An update of the S2IS, the S3IS is a sleek camera with a cool, gun-metal grey paintjob that says this camera is here to do business. The 6 megapixel sensor and 12x optical zoom combine to create tremendously detailed and versatile images, all kept in line by Canon’s powerful image stabilization technology. The S3IS also has a strong video mode as well, offering 30 frames-per-second and stereo-sound that Canon claims can rival even standard camcorders. The S3IS is a serious camera with plenty of functionality, perfect for those who want not just long-range photographs but a long-range experience. (continue reading…)

Fuji FinePix F20

The Fuji FinePix F20 is an appealing ultracompact that wants you to know it has some ‘brains.’ The 6 megapixel ‘Super CCD’ and ‘RP Processor II’ that Fuji insists on boasting about both sound pretty great, but flashy terms like that make us skeptical. This dynamic duo is meant to capture light with more efficiency and reduce the amount of noise found on the final images. The F20 is capable of reaching ISO 2000, which is good for low-light and motion scenes, so maybe there’s something to all that fancy technology. (continue reading…)

Canon PowerShot SD900

The Canon PowerShot SD900 stuns with its shiny, titanium ultracompact body and gigantic 10-megapixel sensor. The SD900 takes the diminutive size of cameras like the SD550 and 700IS, and stuffs it full of megapixels. Canon is all about 10-megapixel cameras this season, it seems, and the SD900 is a remarkable addition to this ever-growing class of cameras. (continue reading…)

Fuji FinePix S8000fd

Fuji throws their hat in the long-range zoom ring with the S8000fd. The startlingly long barrell contains optics capable of acheiving 18x optical zoom, the highest zoon available on the market today, and only matched by the Olympus SP-550UZ and Panasonic’s FZ18. Naturally, with such a long zoom, you’ll need image stabiization, and the S8000fd has CCD-shift IS to ensure crisp and well-composed photos. The S8000fd also features ‘face detection’ technology (that’s what the ‘fd’ stands for) which makes sure your shots are focused on the faces that are important to you. (continue reading…)
